In keeping with Singapore´s goal of attracting 17 million tourists by 2015, the island nation is set to add new attractions, like the world´s largest observation wheel, the globe´s finest integrated luxury resort, and the first Formula One Night Racing to its “must see” list.
Starting this March, the island nation will throw open the stunning 165 metres tall Singapore Flyer, the world´s largest observation wheel and the country´s latest waterfront attraction, Siew Kheng Kang, Regional Director, South Asia, Middle East and Africa, Singapore Tourism Board said.
Built at a cost of $240 million Singapore dollars (US$172 million), the giant observation wheel is poised to be Asia´s new iconic tourist draw by offering an unobstructed view of the landscape of Singapore as well as parts of the Indonesian isles and Malaysia.
“Every ride lasts for about 30 minutes in an air-conditioned and ultra-violet light protected capsule, which can comfortably sit up to 28 people”, said Mr Kang about the flyer which is as tall as a 42-storey building. The flyer offers an array of retail, entertainment and food-beverage choices. A central atrium opens to a tropical rain-forest, with an open-air theatre to host live shows.
To boost its attraction, the board has made available packages for weddings, conferences and cocktail parties. “The capsule can be specially themed for different events”.
